The Braishfield Pantry
A community shop and café
Our Aims
Our fundamental aim is to promote "living life locally" .
This is achieved by:
-
Providing a service for the community
-
Keeping prices as low as possible
-
Providing a place for the community to meet
-
Supporting local businesses and suppliers
-
Creating employment opportunities
-
Encouraging cyclists and walkers to explore the lanes and paths around Braishfield
Our Structure
-
The Pantry is a trading company owned by the Village Hall, which is a charity. This enables us to donate all profits to the hall.
-
The Pantry employs one person part-time as well as employing the services of a local bookkeeper and accountant to maintain our accounts.
-
The Pantry is staffed by volunteers and managed by three Directors; also volunteers.

As a volunteer from the early days of the Pantry, it’s great to see how community support for this valuable resource continues to grow.
I really enjoy ‘looking out’ for the Pantry Team of volunteers and doing any day to day, behind the scenes admin - volunteering is never dull and there’s always a welcome!!

I’ve been volunteering at the pantry since 2016 - having always wanted to work in a small shop!. Probably my biggest role is helping mange the stock and suppliers. Especially for Christmas when the planning starts in July!

I started volunteering when I retired, initially to serve and get to know more people in the village. I have been involved since the beginning and It has been great to see the growth of such a valuable resource for the village, which ,I think, in some small way adds an extra level of support to the village and it's ,also still a fun thing to do.
As well as serving I take the lead on a lot of the Banking, behind the scenes "company stuff" and for my sins am also the Licensee responsible for all alcohol sales.
